Another day, another ship, this one is a design designed by myself.
The Konovalov class, know also as the NW class was a re-design of a kitbash I made back in mid 2006 from a NX class model. It was intended to be the NX's Miranda/Nebula.
The back story of this design is that is was original a concept design for the NX Project, Earth;s first Warp 5 starship. However it fell short due to a number of factors, the most prominent being it's cramp size restricting it's usefulness as a deep space explorer.
Being rejected but not totally forgotten it was shelved for a number of years as the Enterprise class was focused on and put into service. However threat's started to arise, with Earth being attacked by the Xindi. This prompted several shelved designs to be put into production to booster Earth defences and to eventually phase out pre-Enterprise class designs.
The NW, now named Konovalov was one of these designs. While not all that more powerful than a Neptune (a class it was intended to replace), the Konovalov made an excellent scouting vessel and long-ranged cruiser in fleet operations. However the design was short lived and after the war with the Romulan Alliance, Konovalov class vessels ceased production with the remaining units serving out their intended life cycles.
